KREATOR - HATE AND HOPE
The film follows the internationally acclaimed German thrash metal band KREATOR for a year during concerts in Tokyo (Japan), Bangalore (India), Los Angeles (USA), and Gelsenkirchen (Germany), and explores the band's history based on exclusive archival material, starting in 1984 as a school band in Altenessen, Ruhr area. Heavy Metal was once considered a threat to society, as satanic and glorifying violence. The KREATOR singer and guitarist Mille Petrozza now lives the opposite of the Rock'n Roll cliché: He doesn't drink alcohol, practices yoga, is well-read, culturally interested, vegan. In his lyrics, Petrozza criticizes evil and societal injustices, such as currently the rise of right-wing influences. He operates with the most terrifying symbols and finds synonyms for human abysses. For over 40 years, KREATOR is regarded as a constant force in the international thrash metal scene, as noted by Scott Ian of Anthrax, Chuck Billy of Testament, and Phil Demmel.
